”This year you can’t miss vibrant fluorescent colors that instantly lift you up, or the “stylish” unisex design. As for items, the hit of the season are running leggings that give you both freedom of movement and a great style due to a smart fit,” says Ms. Inohana. ”Of course I try to choose lovely wear, but I also go for fabrics that give you a good feel – protect from UV, don’t chafe and don’t restrict your movements,” says Ms. Inohana. Besides, when your body temperature rises and you sweat, you want your clothes to dry fast.

Compared to a cotton T-shirt that gets heavy with sweat, highly absorbent and fast-dry polyester fabrics or highly breathable mesh fabrics guarantee a more comfortable run. If your running wear wicks away moisture and dries quickly, it regulates your core temperature when you are heated by running.

One thing Ms. Inohana is especially particular about with her sportswear is this. ”It can be the cutest item in the world and just what you’ve been looking for, but wrong size is a no-no.

“It’s really important: never buy the outfit that’s not your size. Anyone kind of knows this, right? (laughs) It will stress you out and you won’t be able to concentrate on running. And I personally hate a loose sports bra. You want your underwear to be supportive too, don’t you? That makes it so much easier to run.”

Unlike with regular clothes, the key with running wear is choosing what really fits you well. That’s why Ms. Inohana never buys her running apparel online and by all means tries it on in the store. ”Having put it on, I ask the staff to look at me and give advice. I myself may think it’s a perfect fit, but they can give me precious tips, like “This item stretches well” or “You’d better wear it a little loose”, which I trust and follow.”
